Ground staff at Berlin's main airport are staging a 3 1/2-hour strike in a dispute over pay, AP reported.
The ver.di service workers' union announced the walkout at Tegel airport shortly before the strike began at 6 a.m. (0500 GMT) Friday, March 2. Several departures and arrivals were canceled.
The dispute centers on ver.di's call for a 4 percent pay increase for some 1,500 employees of GlobeGround, which provides baggage handling and other services.
So-called warning strikes like Friday's are used regularly as a tactic to increase pressure in German wage negotiations.
Berlin's second airport, Schoenefeld, wasn't affected. The dispute is unrelated to one at Frankfurt airport that recently led to several days of strikes.
