Minnie Driver lands lead role in Lady Friends comedy

Minnie Driver is heading back to television after landing a lead role in a new U.S. TV pilot, Belfast Telegraph reported citing Deadline.

The British actress has been cast alongside Better Off Ted's Andrea Anders in comedy series Lady Friends, about two lifelong friends leading very different lives.

Minnie – who starred in U.S. show The Riches before it was cancelled in 2008 – will play unlucky Jen, while Andrea will star as her friend Nicole, a woman who has everything going for her.

Minnie, 42, has appeared in several TV shows but made the biggest splash in The Riches before it was axed. Her performance as a con artist posing as a wealthy woman saw her nominated for a host of awards including a Golden Globe and an Emmy.
