South Caucasus Railways (SCR) is going to purchase commodities from its partner suppliers worth AMD 4 billion in 2012.
Speaking at the “Armenian producers for SCR needs” exhibition, Director General of SCR Victor Rebets told the journalists that production bought from 20 partner suppliers for the Railways needs exceeded AMD 2 billion in 2011.
“We are ready to find new contracts; however, we are a strict and demanding buyer, naturally, because we realize the degree of responsibility we assume as owner of the infrastructure,” he said.
For his part, Armenia’s deputy minister for transport and communication Hrant Beglaryan highlighted the importance of competitiveness of the local production to be exported to the Russian market.
“SCR must purchase here the products that can be manufactured in Armenia, while other commodities can be bought from other countries,” he added.
