Armen Ashotyan, Armenian Minister for Education and Science, wants to quit the government to take up the legislative activities again. However, he does not want to be an ordinary MP any more, Hraparak paper reports.
According to some reports, Ashotyan seeks to chair the parliamentary commission for European integration, a position currently occupied by Prosperous Armenia member Naira Zohrabyan.
Most likely, Ashotyan will not be satisfied with a minor position; he may strive to become the speaker of the National Assembly.
According to paper’s sources, this is why Ashotyan joined the executive body of the Republican Party of Armenia and even became vice-chairman of the RPA.
The current speaker of the National Assembly Samvel Nikoyan, an RPA old-timer, is not vice-chairman of the party.
