Armenia’s government has rejected an article published by the website Periodista Digital about the unblocking of regional communications, stating that “the article has no relation to reality.”
According to the website, “Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S. have reached an agreement on the so-called ‘Zangezur Corridor.’”
“Some media outlets are referring to a report published on July 22, presented as news, which is in fact another manifestation of hybrid warfare and manipulative propaganda. This piece of disinformation was published by a site called Periodista Digital, whose origin is dubious and which has repeatedly come under criticism for serving as a platform for fake personas, manipulative content, and unsubstantiated information.”
“The article in question has no connection to reality. Armenia’s positions on the unblocking of regional transport infrastructure are clearly outlined in the Crossroads of Peace project. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan elaborated on this during a press conference on July 16 of this year.”
Further clarifications were provided by the Prime Minister’s spokesperson Nazeli Baghdasaryan in a July 21 interview with Armenpress. “Any information contradicting the above cannot be considered truthful.”
“We urge media outlets and the public to refrain from disseminating such disinformation and to rely solely on official and credible sources,” the government’s statement concludes.
According to Periodista Digital, a “memorandum of understanding” has allegedly been signed concerning the establishment of a transport corridor called “Trump’s Bridge.” It claims Armenia will retain sovereignty over Syunik, but the corridor would be operated by a private American company granted a relevant license.
