In countries like Armenia, which face security threats, all males are obliged to serve in the army, according to RA Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan.
“In Israel, military service is compulsory for both males and females, while in our country, 48% of students avoid army service for different reasons,” he said Monday during a meeting with Yerevan State University students.
“We are making every possible effort to decrease that number, but no legal changes are envisaged for now,” Minister stressed.
At that, he noted that Ministry is currently working towards increasing its organizational level and eradicating corruption.
