Armenian-Turkish dialogue hampers Karabakh conflict resolution

The ongoing Armenian-Turkish dialogue hampers resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, according to Ruben Hakobyan, director of analytic research center.

“Turkey has numerously stated that it closed the border with Armenia because of Karabakh and that the border will be re-opened only in case the conflict is settled. A question arises: if Armenia is ready to resolve the conflict and accept Madrid principles, so why does it need normalization of relations with Turkey?” Hakobyan said, adding that engaging in a dialogue with Turkey, Armenia got under a disadvantage.

“If the Karabakh conflict is resolved, the Armenian-Turkish border will open of its own accord,” he concluded.
