No state, even the strongest one, can ensure its security alone, Armenian President said.
“We live in a region filled with threats and dangers, where the probability for armed conflicts is high. The extension of Russian military base deployment in Armenia is a step aimed to maintain security in the country,” Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview with Profile Ukrainian magazine.
“Russia and Armenia are strategic partners, cooperating within CSTO framework. Extension of military base deployment for 49 years will serve bilateral interests, providing Russian armed forces with a possibility for long term development. Armenian army will be re-equipped in accordance with modern standards and receive assistance in prevention of further conflicts,” he said.
