Yerevan meets Thomas Hammarberg with a protest action

Over 200 people gathered at Armenia Marriott Hotel demanding a meeting with the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Thomas Hammarberg.

The demonstrators are chanting “Freedom to political prisoners”, “Struggle till the end” and are calling for President Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation. They are carrying the photographs of Sasun Mikaelyan, who was imprisoned during the March 1-2, 2008 disorders, and of those who were killed during that time.

Police officers cordoned the hotel building, a PanARMENIAN.Net correspondent reported from the scene.

There are no representatives of political parties among the protesters.
