U.S. diplomats might discuss resumption of Armenia-Turkey rapprochement during visit to Yerevan

The U.S. State Department officials’ visit to the region is explained by the development of the events in South Caucasus, according to CIS States Institute’s Armenian Subsidiary director.

Alexander Markarov believed 3 issues will be on the visit agenda. “Here belong Karabakh conflict settlement in view of March 5 meeting between Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents in Sochi; discussion, focusing on resumption of Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process; Armenia-U.S. relations,” he noted in a conversation with PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

On February 24, Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon will arrive in Yerevan. Visits to South Caucasus state, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina are on U.S. diplomats’ agenda.
