Armenians from Azerbaijan to form unified institution

Armenian Genocide Museum Institute hosted an organizational sitting of the oncoming congress of Armenians from Azerbaijan.

As member of the organizational committee Roman Gulbandyan told a news conference, the sitting which brought together representatives of 30 organizations aimed to prepare for the oncoming congress. “The goal of the oncoming session is to form a new entity representing interests of Armenians from Azerbaijan in international institutions,” he said.

The organization’s mission is to achieve recognition of the Armenian genocide in Azerbaijan, demand compensation for Azerbaijan’s Armenian refugees as well as participation in talks.

As he noted, OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs have meetings with Azerbaijani refugees, somehow forgetting about hundreds of thousands of Armenian refugees. In conclusion, Gulbandyan reminded that modern Azerbaijan is a legal successor to the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, where Armenians were recognized as a state-forming nation.
