Armenian MP: cooperation with authorities can affect people’s attitude towards ANC

Independent member of the Armenian parliament Vardan Khachatryan said cooperation with the authorities can affect people’s attitude towards the Armenian National Congress (ANC).

“ANC’s prospect to come to power jointly with the current authorities may have serious consequences for it in the eyes of the people,” Khachatryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, it is necessary to create a third political force in Armenia, and Heritage party, Tigran Karapetyan and Aram Karapetyan deal with it now. This third political force is likely to try to occupy the radical part of the political field vacated by ANC, concluded Khachatryan.

Member of the Republican Party of Armenian parliamentary group Hovhannes Sahakyan said for his part that it is too early to speak about formation of a third political force in the country. He noted that, first of all, one should understand with what this third force is going to deal. Sahakyan was also surprised by the attitude of other political forces towards possible dialogue between the authorities and ANC.
