Azerbaijan resolved not to restrict itself to threats of a new war in Karabakh. Getting a dry mouth from military rhetoric seemed not enough: Azeris menace Armenia with “ awful repercussions ”, “loss of statehood ”. The question is, who allowed Azerbaijan advance these statements, what's the purpose behind them?
It would be naive to believe Azeri statements are not allowed by the high and mighty. It would be similarly naive to believe the high and mighty would allow Azerbaijan to threaten Armenia on the threshold of June 25 presidential meeting on Karabakh issue.
Most probably, the probability of rapid settlement of Karabakh issue as well as the responce of Azeri people became a reason behind Azerbaijan's show-off threats.
It's not excluded that on the background of recent statements, suggesting a certain coordination of positions during Moscow-hosted Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministers' meeting, a document on Karabakh conflict settlement will be signed in Kazan. So naturally, Azeri authorities need to justify themselves to their people “fed” with war rhetoric. Azeri authorities will attempt to persuade their people that Armenia petrified with threats, backed out and signed the document.
Based on Armenia's balanced attitude on the threshold of Kazan meeting, one may infer that Azeri officials' statements suggesting the document currently worked through fully meets the interests of Baku is another piece of bravado, similarly to threats addressed to Armenia. Well, it's high time Azeri people go searching for a new president.
