Director of CIS States Institute Yerevan subsidiary believes change of Karabakh settlement format in current situation may only lead to loss of time.At news conference in Yerevan, political analyst Alexander Markarov expressed scepticism over the possibility for a new mediator to come up with any fresh settlement-related proposals, considering suggestions of OSCE Minsk Group have already been approved by the conflicting parties.
Markarov characterized current negotiation format as satisfactory, citing lack of large-scale hostilities over the last 17 years to prove his point.
Commenting on the possibility to replace France with EU as OSCE MG co-chair, the expert noted, that EU, as a complex structure, will find it hard to decide on a unified policy on South Caucasus.
