Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have sharply criticized PACE Azeri delegation head Ilham Aliyev’s statements on the passed presidential election in Armenia. In the course of the PACE session yesterday I. Aliyev said, “violation of the essential electoral criteria at the election in Armenia is the logical outcome of the Armenian policy disdaining the main norms of the international law.” Thereupon, as reported by “Mediamax” agency, PACE rapporteur on Armenia Yezhi Yaskerny noted, “It is a pity that people representing countries, which have not achieved democratic progress, criticize Armenia.” In his turn, commenting on I. Aliyev’s statements head of the PACE observation mission of the election in Armenia Lord Russell-Johnston said, “I would like to remind our Azeri colleagues that election will soon be held in Azerbaijan, too, particularly that the previous election in the country was rather sharply criticized.”
