Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia district on April 12 to support the election campaign of his Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Addressing the local residents, he called on them to vote for RPA candidate Samvel Alexanyan nominated by majority system, Yerkir paper reports.
According to the paper, participants of the meeting became very enthusiastic on hearing Alexanyan’s name. Following the President’s speech, those attending the rally told they are employees of companies owned by Alexanyan.
“They gathered all of us and brought us here; we did not know the reason at first,” one of them complained.
Another one said: “I’m glad to have missed my work; I had to work the second shift today, but they told us we could go home after this rally.”
A woman working at school told the paper they were all instructed to come and attend the meeting, while another old lady was telling about the Easter “presents” she had received.
“Back then, they gave me a pack of eggs, a bottle of wine and one kg of rice; now, what will they present us with at May 6?” she wondered.
