Manchester United to face Real Madrid in June 3 charity match

Manchester United are set to face Real Madrid in a match at the Bernabeu on June 3. Legends from both sides will match up in what is being billed as the 'Corazon Classic Match 2012'.

Spanish press say it makes a mockery of Real Madrid's refusal to host the Cope del Rey final due to works which were planned to be carried out at the stadium. Barcelona wanted to face Club Athletic Bilbao at Real's stadium but there was huge opposition from fans of the Madrid team and they refused to host the match.

The reason of works being carried out on the ground was used and that does now seem to have been a smokescreen to hide the reality that Real Madrid fans just didn't want Barcelona lifting a trophy in their stadium.

Putting conspiracy theories to one side, it sounds like it's going to be a great game to watch. The traditional charity match organised by the Real Madrid Foundation to raise money for their projects in Africa will have some real stars playing in it. Players like of Butragueño, Figo, Zidane, Morientes, Redondo and Makelele for the Spanish team, and Bryan Robson, Van der Sar, Johnsen and Andy Cole are said to be appearing, Sportwitness reported citing Esmadrid.com.
