Education Minister says strong parliamentary opposition may be back

Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan commented on rumors on coalition forces in the new parliament on his Facebook page, saying both paths will lead to development.

“Post-election developments cover the possible coalition formats. The discussions are basing on the idea that given the results of the 2012 parliamentary vote, the Republican Party of Armenia is highly self-sufficient in making further steps,” the minister said.

“On the one hand, the coalition may allow uniting a large number of reasonable people for future development of the country, and it will not be a formal one in this respect.

On the other hand, we have a historic chance to restore the institute of strong parliamentary opposition in our country, which is also important for Armenia’s political development.

This means that in any case we’ll see positive development,” his statement said.
