According to the data of 168 Hours paper, some governors of Armenian provinces will be sacked soon, despite the format of the new government.
The paper says dismissal is to be first faced by those local leaders who failed to ensure victory for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) in the recent parliamentary vote on May 6.
“Governor of Kotayk province Kovalenko Shahgeldyan will be the first to be dismissed; Kotayk was the only province where RPA got less votes than the Prosperous Armenia party,” paper says.
Leaders of communities where RPA had minor advantage over Prosperous Armenia will also lose their posts, the paper reports, further naming Vayots Dzor province and its governor Sergey Bagratyan. Prosperous Armenia’s Bagratyan will face dismissal in any case due to his party membership, despite the outcome of elections.
In addition, governor of Shirak province Ashot Giziryan and RPA member, head of Aragatsotn province Sargis Sahakyan will be dismissed for poor work during the election campaign, according to 168 Hours.
