Orinats Yerkir rep Manuk Vardanyan says party did not refuse him membership

Minister of Transport and Communication is unaware of the oncoming appointments in the government to be formed.

“A Minister’s position is not always a political one,” Manuk Vardanyan told reporters on May 17.

Also, Vardanyan, a member of Orinats Yerkir, confirmed that the party did not refuse him membership.

On May 15, Orinats Yerkir coalition party spokesman Harutyun Amiryan refuted media rumors suggesting Vardanyan plans to leave the party.

Asked if he wished to retain his post as a Transport Minister, Vardanyan noted, “I’ll be glad to retain my post, if my abilities are still required; if not, I’ll consider another job.”

In current government of Armenia, Orinats Yerkir is represented by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Transport Minister, Agriculture Minister.

At May 6 elections, Orinats Yerkir gained 5,51% of votes to be represented by 6 MPs in the new parliament.
