If the US takes control over oil resources of Iraq the project of construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will lose its economic significance and can be postponed. As reported by “Novosti” Russian agency, the opinion was expressed by director of the Institute of the CIS countries Constantine Zatulin. In his words, the value of other oil sources will increase for the US and the West in case Iraq fulfills its threat to blow up oil fields and oil wells, which is doubtful. Zatulin also forecasts that “for the first time the oil market will not be a market any more and will become regulated on the price level. It will strike a blow on Russia, Azerbaijan and other oil producing countries, the institute director considers.
