Political expert Edgar Hovhannisyan commented on the recent Azeri attacks at the contact line, noting achievement of concessions from the West as their main goal.
“Azerbaijan tries to name a higher price, gain concessions, force the West to “turn a blind eye” to the situation with democracy and human rights in the country, as well as hereditary transfer of power,” he said.
The expert further stressed ensuring transfer of power to junior Heidar Aliyev as the main goal Azerbaijani political elite headed by Ilham Aliyev and his wife pursues.
In this context, Mr. Hovhannisyan noted with regret that the West is inclined to ignore Azerbaijan’s behavior due to its oil interest.
