Cosima Spender’s “Without Gorky” was featured at Golden Apricot Yerevan-hosted international film festival.
The film follows the last 7 years of the famous Armenian-American painter Arshile Gorky through the eyes of her granddaughter, British helmer Cosima Spender.
“My grandmother was 18 when she met Gorky, then a 40 year-old-man. It was with my grandma that he came to realize the meaning of a family, unknown to him since childhood. My grandmother held him shed the somber painting stile and fining the abstract expressionism,” she said.
The film revolves around the 3 generation of women in Arshile Gorky’s life – his mother, wife and granddaughter.
