“If you read the text, you will see that she speaks of such criminal elements in Georgia and Moldova. In the next sentence she notes that there are unsolved problems in Nagorno Karabakh,” US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans stated in an interview with Armenia TV Company when commenting on the statement of US Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Jones that has had negative response in Armenia. In the Ambassador’s opinion, when speaking of criminal elements, Jones did not mean Nagorno Karabakh and its authorities, but territories bordering with Russia (Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Pridnestrovie). “I do not think the matter concerned Karabakh,” J. Evans said. He noted that for many years the US has been providing humanitarian assistance to Nagorno Karabakh: we are the second country after Armenia, which provides assistance to Karabakh.” The Ambassador also stated that if someone wants to harm US-Armenian relations, he can keep insulting E. Jones.
