Azerbaijan intends to reduce state spending on defense and national security to 7.969 billion manats by 2030, according to midterm budget figures published on the Finance Ministry’s official website, Haqqin.az reports.
However, in 2026, the budget allocation for defense and security is set to increase to 8.715 billion manats, which is 3.8% more than in 2025, when the budget stands at 8.396 billion manats.
This indicates a planned decrease of 8.6% in military spending between 2026 and 2029.
Additionally, the share of defense and national security within Azerbaijan’s total state budget will drop from 20.9% in 2026 to 18.4% by 2029, reflecting a gradual shift in budget priorities.
