Armenia’s Jewish community representatives are mainly children of mixed marriages, head of Armenia’s Jewish community said.
“The number of Jews residing in Armenia ranges from 800 to 1000, with the main part centered in Yerevan. A synagogue, cultural center and a school operates for them, with a newspaper and books released,” Rimma Varzhapetyan said.
Israeli consul in the Caucasus Ron Schechter, in turn said that Israel values Jewish communities’ well-being in other countries.
“The Jewish Diaspora exceeds the number of Israeli population. Under the law on “repatriation”, three generations of Jews have the right to return to Israel. The law also applies to Armenia’s Jewish community representatives,” Consul Schechter said, adding that Israel attaches great importance to Jewish repatriation.
