Director of CIS Institute’s Armenian branch believes Turkey’s or the West’s military intervention in Syrian conflict hardly probable.
Alexander Markarov cited a more powerful army and air defense system as compared with Libya as one of the key reasons.
In this contest, the expert voiced skepticism for the “Kurdish factor” to force Turkey into separate military intervention. “As a NATO member and considering the past precedents, Turkey won’t use the ‘Kurdish factor’,” he said.
Mr. Markarov further expressed disagreement with the experts slamming Turkish policy on Syria and forecasting emergence of a new Kurdish autonomy as a result.
