The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary group member believes a part of the Civilitas Foundation’s sums was misused by Vartan Oskanian, another part was distributed among the Foundation’s directors and the third part spent on business transactions.As Hayk Babukhanyan stated at a discussion on stripping ex-foreign minister Oskanian of deputy immunity, using the donations for business or lending the charity money at interest is illegal, regardless of Oskanian’s personality of political affiliation.
“Oskanian’s actions contradict competition rules; when the ex-minister was receiving millions of dollars in foreign donations he hired only 60 people, while he could have employed 160,” he noted.
According to Babukhanyan, Oskanian was guided by more dangerous motifs than mere misuse of funds.
