Today the second round of the presidential elections is being held in Armenia. The republic electorate has to choose between incumbent Armenian president Robert Kocharian and opposition candidate, People party leader Stepan Demirchian. As it is known, in the first round held February 19 Robert Kocharian gathered 49.5% of constituents’ votes and Stepan Demirchian 28.8%. Today, as well as February 19, over 5 thousand local and international observers including Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and OSCE missions, CIS observation mission members and CIS Parliamentary Assembly observers will follow the second round of the vote. Over 50 representatives of foreign media will be covering the elections besides Armenian journalists. 10 thousand policemen will keep the public order the election day.
