ARMENIAN DELEGATION NOT TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN PACE POLITICAL COMMITTEE SITTING

The Armenian delegation has addressed a letter to secretary general of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Bruno Haller notifying it will not be able to participate in the Political Committee sitting planned March 5-6. As PACE Armenian delegation head Hovhannes Hovhannisian told “Arminfo” agency, the letter refers to the second round of the Armenian presidential elections scheduled March 5 as the reason for not participating. The Armenian party made a request not to discuss issues concerning Armenia at the sitting. PACE rapporteur on Nagorno Karabakh Terry Davis had been expected to present information on the meeting with the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs. Hovhannes Hovhannisian supposed that the Armenian party’s request would be taken into consideration and Davis’ speech would be postponed. Maintaining stability in the European community and situation around Chechnya are also on the agenda of the Political Council sitting.
