KARABAKH CONFLICT CANNOT BE SOLVED WITHOUT RADICAL CHANGES, RUSSIAN POLITICAL SCIENTIST CONSIDERS

The solution of the Karabakh conflict will not be possible without radical changes. Director of the Russian Institute for Political Research Sergey Markov expressed such an opinion in the air of the First Russian channel. He supposed that “either Armenia will abruptly weaken and Azerbaijan will decide the issue by force, or a crisis will arise in Azerbaijan and Armenia will be able to legalize the status quo.” S.Markov considers that the opportunity for the both states to change policy towards the Karabakh problem is minimal. “Under the current conditions the situation will remain frozen,” – he said, adding Russia noticeably contributed to it. S.Markov emphasized Armenia was a small but rather influential country due to the availability of the Armenian lobby both in the US and Russia. “We highlight relations with it as a country, which can influence the stand of various political forces,” – the Institute director stated.
