Press secretary of the Armenian defense ministry, colonel Seyran Shahsuvarian called the Azeri defense ministry report that about a skirmish February 26 between Karabakh Armenians supporting incumbent president Robert Kocharian and servicemen coming from Armenia “rubbish.” In Seyran Shahsuvarian’s words, as reported by “Arminfo” agency, the official Baku propagandistic machinery continues the futile attempts to destabilize the situation on the contact line between the Nagorno Karabakh defense army and the Azeri armed forces by presenting the desired as the reality. As reminded by Seyran Shahsuvarian, an Azeri diversion and intelligence group of 5 members tried to penetrate to the NKR defense army rear in the southern direction of the contact line at 4:20 a.m. February 26. Having observed it, the NKR defense army servicemen on duty undertook measures to neutralize them. The adversary had to fall back using arms, in particular, submachine guns and hand grenades. Two servicemen of the NKR defense army were wounded during the exchange of fire. After first medical aid had been rendered to these servicemen they were transported to a military hospital.
