U.S. ambassador to Armenia denied the existence of any contradictions between Armenia’s CSTO membership and cooperation with NATO.
As John Heffern noted during NATO seminar on cooperation strengthening and NATO’s new partnership policy, with the Cold War over, cooperation with Russia and CSTO doesn’t hamper Armenia-NATO partnership.
Dwelling on RA-NATO cooperation, Ambassador Heffern noted peacemaking efforts and defense reforms, including boosting the professionalism of RA armed forces as the key development areas.
He further denied the U.S.-Russia rivalry.
“The countries cooperate in the settlement of the problems existing in the South Caucasus region, particularly in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution in the framework of OSCE Minsk Group,” Ambassador Heffern said.
