Strike in Georgian port of Poti has forced Armenian transportation companies to transfer their cargo to Batumi port.
In conversation with a PanARMENIANNet reporter, director of Megatrans cargo transportation company Garnik Aleksanyan characterized Batumi port as “reserve”, in case of problems in Poti port.
“We transferred our cargo to Batumi port on November 7, located about 100 km from Poti port,” he said.
Considering the additional distance, the cargo transportation cost is expected to have increased by USD 100-200.
The company director further noted that Poti port is likely to open either Nov 8 evening or Nov 9 morning.
