The opposition forces of Armenia will demand resignation of incumbent Armenian president Robert Kocharian in case he fails to satisfy their demands. As reported by “Arka” agency, says the statement of 13 opposition parties supporting the opposition presidential contender, leader of the People party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian. The opposition specifically demands retirement of the closest circles of the president – defense minister Serge Sargsian, minister for regional government and coordinating the operation of infrastructures Hovik Abrahamian, minister of transport and communication Andranik Manukian, police chief Hayk Harutyunian. As opposition representative Vardan Poghosian stated at yesterday’s meeting, “the authorities should cease political persecution and release the illegally arrested proxies of Stepan Demirchian and People party activists.” Moreover, the opposition insists on abrogation of the licenses of the judges, who made verdicts on the cases. On behalf of the opposition V.Poghosian demanded that chairman of the Armenian central electoral commission Artak Sahradian leave the office being held. “The court should bring a criminal action against him for failing to meet his duties and complicity in transgressions in favor of Robert Kocharian,” – he said. Let us note that the opposition does not agree with the election results drawn by the central electoral commission, according to which incumbent president Robert Kocharian gathered 49.47% votes and leader of the People party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian – 28.22%.
