In the course of the elections February 19 violations were made both by supporters of the incumbent president and opposition. Armenian president Robert Kocharian stated when answering journalists’ questions today. Nevertheless, in his words, in spite of the opposition statements on “mass gerrymander” of the election returns, the number of transgressions was not large enough to influence the final returns. R.Kocharian noted that the Armenian authorities would suppress any attempts of violations “in an incomparably hard way.” Answering the question on the opportunity of armed forces participation in securing order at the elections March 5, R.Kocharian said the number of policemen was quite sufficient.
