The central electoral commission has confirmed the final protocol of the presidential elections held in Armenia February 19. According to the document the 1 416 357 votes of the citizens, who participated in the elections, were distributed as follows: Ruben Avagian (“United Armenians” party) – 5788 votes (0,4%); Artashes Geghamian (“National Unification” party) – 250 145 votes (17,7%); Stepan Demirchian (People party of Armenia) – 399 757 (28,2%); Aram Karapetian (director of “Perspective” center) – 41 795 (3,0%); Aram Harutyunian (“National Accord” party) 1272 (0,1%); Vazgen Manukian (National-Democratic Union)- 12 904 (0,9%); Garnik Margarian (“Honor and Fatherland” party) – 854 (0,06%); Aram Sargsian (Democratic party of Armenia) – 3034 (0,2%); Robert Kocharian (civil initiative) – 700 808 (49,5%). Thus, according to the Electoral code of Armenia, the election second round will be held March 5, in which incumbent president Robert Kocharian and leader of the People party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian will participate.
