Today representative of presidential contender Stepan Demirchian’s headquarters Ashot Sargsian stated that incumbent Armenian president Robert Kocharian had only collected 42% of the grassroots votes at the elections February 19. As reported by “Mediamax” agency, Sargsian added referring to the headquarters estimates “the number declines intensively.” In his words, the central electoral commission did not have a right to declare the second round on the basis of the early returns only. This evening the commission has to announce the final returns of the first round. Let us remind that according to preliminary data, 49.8% of constituents voted for the acting Armenian president.
