RPA foils ANC-initiated special parliamentary sitting

A special parliamentary sitting, initiated by Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, has fallen through over non-attendance of the members of ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), with the exception of National Assembly speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and Hermine Naghdalyan.

According to parliamentary regulations, in case of a lack of quorum, the National Assembly has to hold another registration in 3 hours. Again, the registration failed to provide a quorum.

With ANC having foreseen such a development, a protest rally will be held outside the parliament at 2 pm local time.

A number of proposals on amendments to Armenia's Electoral and Criminal Laws were included on the special sitting agenda.
