The Unites States calls political forces of Armenia “to keep equanimity” and hold the second round of the presidential elections March 5 “in a fair and maximally transparent manner, which also provides for a quick and precise report at all levels of counting the votes.” A US Department of State representative told “ITAR-TASS” correspondent in Washington. On behalf of the Washington administration he congratulated the entire population of Armenia “on the active public participation” in the first round of the vote February 19. In his words, Washington shares the opinion of PACE and OSCE observers on the first round, which was assessed as calm and well-organized on the whole. At the same time according to the evaluations of experts from Europe and the US, “the counting process was flawed and the long-term election process fell short of international standards in several key respects.”
