«The move made by Russia to relocate the military equipment withdrawn from Georgia in the territory of Armenia is incompatible with co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group formed to solve the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Russia has to be withdrawn from the MG,» Yurddash Azeri party chairman, MP Mais Safarli stated at the Azeri Milli Mejlis plenary session June 10. In his words, «though Russia states the move is not aimed against Azerbaijan, it is totally incorrect and is a move against the Republic of Azerbaijan.» «Due to the move by Russia having an impact on national interests of Azerbaijan, official Baku should take a number of political and legal steps. As Russia by this move Russia violates the provisions of the Convention on Limitation of Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, the question of the responsibility of that country should be submitted to the UN Security Council, the OSCE, the Council of Europe. Thus, exactly due to the conflict hotbeds created by Russian weapons the rights of millions of people are violated and they live under hard conditions as refugees and displaced persons,» he noted. «I consider the CoE, which considers human rights a priority, should seriously deal with the issue and give a political and legal evaluation to the move being taken by Russia,» M. Safarli said. He further remarked the importance of the repeated submission of the agreement signed by Azerbaijan and Russia on leasing the Gabali radar station to Russia for discussion by the Parliament.
