Abkhazia railway opening is in the interests of Armenia, South Caucasus Railways (SCR) CEO said.
“It’s essential for the issue to be discussed by Georgia’s officials. We also have Russia’s official position on the matter, with a policy of approximation necessary,” Victor Rebets told a December 21 news conference in Yerevan, expressing hope for a solution.
“Technically speaking, the opening of the railway poses no problems, with infrastructure being operative,” SCR chief said.
Opening of Abkhazian-Georgian sector of the railway is of strategic importance to Armenia, the former being the cheapest and shortest route to Russia.
