Poll names Armenian President most influential figure of 2012

The public opinion poll has named incumbent Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan as the most influential figure of 2012, followed by Prosperous Armenian leader Gagik Tsarukyan, sociologist said.

As Aharon Adibekyan told a press conference, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc leader Levon Ter-Petrossian took the 3rd and 4th spots respectively, followed by National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan, Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannissian and Union for National Self-Determination party leader Paruyr Hayrikyan.

“Literature experts, engineers and unemployed people, unfortunately, were not included in the list,” the sociologist said, adding that the indices of former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian and former prime minister Hrant Bagratyan totaled 0.6% and 0.1% respectably.

The poll was conducted in December, with 1400 respondents interviewed.
