COMMUNIST PARTY LEADER SAID SECOND ROUND OF ELECTIONS PROBABLE

The most probable outcome of the presidential elections being held in Armenia is a second round, in which acting president Robert Kocharian and an opposition candidate or two opposition candidates may participate. Chairman of the Communist party of Armenia Vladimir Darbinian told journalists today. At the same time he emphasized that he was ready to congratulate president Robert Kocharian if the latter became a victor “in a fair struggle.” Let us remind that the Communist leader had withdrawn candidacy in favor of Artashes Geghamian. Vladimir Darbinian did not keep back he was already aware of transgressions of the voting process, which mainly referred to confusion in electoral rolls. At the same time he noted that he did not possess complete information on violations.
