The state customs committee of Russia has resolved to strengthen the customs control of its southern borders. In the words of deputy chairman of the Russian customs Yuri Azarov, as reported by “RBC,” the measure is due to the hard strategic situation in the region. In the customs leadership’s opinion, the southern borders of Russia have been too open until now. The customs committee intends to establish a network of contemporary admission posts as a measure to strengthen customs control. In particular, a new Daghestan customs post will be opened at the frontier with Azerbaijan.
