$7 MILLION ASSIGNED TO ARMENIA FOR FIGHTING AIDS

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has allocated $7 million to resist “the 21-st century plague.” According to the Fund data, the AIDS epidemic is not a large-scale one in Armenia, but some preconditions for that are present in the country, in particular, migration processes. The Global Fund has expressed satisfaction with the serious attention paid by the Armenian government to prevention of spreading AIDS. According to the information, there are 1500-2200 carriers of the virus in Armenia, 80% of which are people of 20-39. 14 people ill with AIDS have died since the beginning of the epidemic in Armenia.
