ICES observer mission says elections “democratic, competitive”

The International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) mission assesses the February 18 presidential elections in Armenia as democratic and competitive, held in accordance with Constitution and international electoral law, the head of the mission said.

As Alexander Tsinker told a news conference in Yerevan, “on Feb 18, the mission visited 134 polling stations across Armenia, with 65% of them given positive assessment.”

The expert further hailed candidate Raffi Hovannisian’s statement suggesting Armenian people are the only winners in the elections, as well as contender Serzh Sargsyan’s HQ agreeing with it.
