The response to the instruction of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on the situation with refugees and deported in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia was passed at the sitting of the representatives of the CE Committee of Ministers February 5. As reported by the Armenian foreign ministry press service, speaking about the decision in the course of the sitting Armenian permanent representative in the Council of Europe Christian Ter-Stepanian expressed satisfaction that the Committee of Ministers and Parliamentary Assembly points of view on the issue coincide. “We consider that the return of refugees and the deported as a result of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to the places of their residence is a constituent part of the OSCE Minsk group negotiations with all the interested parties and the final and practical solution of the issue may only be found within the framework of the conflict global settlement,” – the ambassador noted. He also emphasized that Armenia shared the opinion that refugees and the deported should not become hostages of state policies, which exposed the human fates to political speculations.
