Armenian-Russian Regional Cooperation Center Opened in Saint Petersburg

An international scientific and practical conference on combating drug addiction and illegal drug circulation started November 17 in Tavrichesky Palace of Saint Petersburg. The conference was opened by Chairman of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Sergey Mironov, reported RA NA press center. Parliamentarians of different states also gave reports. On the same day a seminar dedicated to the draft bill “On Property Tax” was held. Within the conference framework Armenian Parliament Speaker Artur Baghdassaryan met with Chairman of Moldovan parliament Marian Lupu. The interlocutors noted the importance of establishing interparliamentary relations via the cooperation of deputy friendship groups and committees, mutual visits and collaboration within international structures. They also reached agreement on exchange of experience in legislative field and IT cooperation.

In Tavrichesky Palace of Saint Petersburg Artur Baghdassaryan jointly with Sergey Mironov opened the Center of the Armenian-Russian Regional Cooperation. A. Baghdassaryan rated the event as an advance in the Armenian-Russian parliamentary relations. The RA NA Speaker also met with Chairman of the Russian State Duma Boris Gryzlov to discuss the issues referring to interparliamentary cooperation. To note, the sitting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the sitting of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly were as well held within the session. The participants appointed chairmen of standing committees and discussed the issues included in the agenda of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly sitting scheduled for November 18.
