Chairman of Stable Human Development association Karine Danielyan voiced hope that UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre for Europe won’t move to Istanbul.
“We met with UN General Secretary’s negotiator and briefed him on our concerns. He said they were trying to reach a compromise,” Ms. Danielyan said, noting Bratislava, Central or Eastern European cities as the most appropriate location for the office.
Several UN programs have already been transferred to Istanbul, with rumors suggesting the Geneva office and the UNESCO office may also be transferred to Turkey currently circulating.
The head of the Center for Civil Society Development NGO Svetlana Aslanyan, in turn, said attempts were made to establish cooperation with other NGOs, with Cyprus already having addressed other institutions and states.
